Manukau City Council, Papatoetoe Ward Community Board, Papatoetoe Railway Station Preservation Trust, ASB Trust, NZ Lotteries Board, Glenbrook Vintage Railway Trust and Ministry of Transport & Technology.

Papatoetoe Railway Station Preservation Trust wanted to restore the station to its former glory and have some use for the building long term. It was the original intention that it be used as a Heritage Cafe, however, due to insufficient parking on site and a strong possibility that an application would be refused by Manukau City Council, it was decided to restore and retain the building and make it available to community organisations as a venue for Community Use.

The old heritage Railway Station first built in 1875, was derelict and unused with one exception as a shelter standing on an island platform in the centre of the double track at the Papatoetoe Railway Station.
